XVI Records are excited to present their latest signing, Cleto Marez. South London born and raised, Cleto’s productions exist in a world of their own. His sound is the consequence of heavy bassline sound systems, clipping EQs, Coxsone sound clash culture, and the roots of Jamaican multi-genre sonics. His beats swing between distressed melodies, looming undertones, commentary and heavy hitting samples tiered with irregular drums loops. Having collaborated with the likes of Goya Gumbani, MIKE, King Carter and Nigz TG - Cleto’s ability to craft multilayered, efficacious beats has gained him underground support in all the right places.

As new single ‘Get That Money Sis’ swirls into earshot - an eerie vocal loop rings out through the ether, swiftly joined by hypnotic strains and a red-light inducing bassline. With the accompanying music video animated by Formidable Season and based on real life events, we follow a surreal episode of New York City’s unmatched nightlife via the streets of Brooklyn, and narrated by characters Octo & Gee (Gii).
With a slew of releases set for 2021, Cleto further demonstrates his unbeatable ear for weaving advanced melodies and subterranean low-end frequencies into complex soundscapes, with enough mystic power to set off the party.
